Launching and leaving business are natural processes inherent in European economic life. In fact, 50% of companies do not survive the first 5 years of life, and bankruptcies are responsible for about 15% of all liquidated companies. In Europe, 200,000 companies face insolvency every year, causing the loss of 1.7 million jobs. In the Danube Region, the number of bankruptcies increased during the last year by 3.6%. Although only 4-6% of bankruptcies are fraudulent, public opinion makes a strong link between business failure and fraud. Many honest entrepreneurs whose businesses have gone bankrupt feel discouraged to start again because of the difficulties and discrimination they face. The Danube Chance 2.0 project aims to develop second-chance entrepreneurial policies and practical solutions to improve the entrepreneurial culture in order to avoid losing entrepreneurial potential and to overcome the stigma of entrepreneurs after business failure.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The main result of the project will be the intensification of cooperation between project partners (decision makers, financial intermediaries, business accelerators, research institutes and universities, NGOs) and target groups (companies in financial difficulty, in insolvency or in a state of bankruptcy, which are ready for relaunch), realized through:

a. Strategy for entrepreneurs' second chance in the Danube region: creating a community of experts ready to work together to shape the regulatory framework that will give honest entrepreneurs a second chance in the Danube region;

b.  "Trial and Error" Re-design Transnational Academy: providing 130 hours (6 modules) of transnational training for 200 entrepreneurs who have gone bankrupt;

c. "Business Re-Structuring Initiative": services for around 60 entrepreneurs to facilitate business relaunch, access to finance and a positive image of second-chance entrepreneurs.
